Fensterbau Frontale 2022: Key trends of the future

With its return to our calendars after a four-year break, the Fensterbau Frontale trade fair has confirmed its status as a unique celebration of the window industry. This year's event themes and accompanying panel discussions focused on energy efficiency, climate protection, ventilation, the comfort of living spaces and the digitalisation of the business processes of the joinery industry. Fensterbau Frontale has been setting the industry trends for years - see what future trends we noted at this year's edition!

#1. Ecology - trend or growth strategy?

Design, sustainability and quality of life are often seen as a single entity, as Salamander Windows & Door Systems - a strategic partner of PAGEN - convinced visitors to its stand. The stand of our system supplier presented, among other things, ecological solutions in the SALAMANDER Greta®Fenster system. The profile with a structure imitating architectural concrete, which perfectly matches the modern design, was produced from 100% recycled PVC.

PVC balcony doors in this system, which won the German Design Award and the prestigious Red Dot Design Award 2022, were also presented at the PAGEN stand. On the outside, the profile was additionally equipped with aluminium caps, the so-called AluClip, in this season's fashionable black.

pagen salamanderSalamander Windows & Door Systems also placed great emphasis on presenting the evoCore frame insert, which is used instead of standard reinforcement. Certified by Ift Rosenheim - evoCore, allows better Uf values to be achieved, which contributes to the energy efficiency of the entire window, reduces the weight of the entire product and improves the thermal insulation of the entire window by approximately 10 per cent, thus meeting the requirements of passive building standards. The core is manufactured from 100% recycled PET bottles. Thermal insulation, weight reduction, recycling and resource conservation are clear industry trends set by Salamander Windows & Door Systems.

As Götz Schmiedeknecht, Co-CEO, said - Sustainability means more to us than just protecting the environment - we use resources responsibly, focus on long-term cooperation with our employees and sustainable growth. The development and introduction of our first sustainable window profile system Greta®Fenster fills us with pride and opens up new horizons.

#2. design always trending - have we seen everything in the industry?

Design at any industry event is an important part of the exhibition stand display. However, for all those who thought they had seen everything in the window industry, Salamander Windows & Door Systems opened their eyes wide.

A very interesting trade fair proposition was the greenEvolution windows - unusual, unusual and inspiring as they were expressed - in the SALAMANDER system. Thanks to the use of the latest series of so-called realMaterial - decorative foils and textures, durable, striking and original windows were presented, which can be part of the design of a building's facade, as well as its interiors.

The realMaterial series of veneers and textures is divided into four groups:

  • loopedLeather - Stamped leather fibre, made from real waste natural leather (also presented at the PAGEN stand).
  • realWood - veneer made from real wood (veneer),
  • realMetal - aluminium with the appearance of brushed stainless steel,
  • realCooper - raw copper in vintage style (also presented at the PAGEN stand).

Thanks to the greenEvolution profiles and the realMaterial series, we can adapt our window joinery to any style, from classic to modern. The variety of veneer combinations in this series allows us to create perfect, personalised windows that frame our space in a beautiful way.

#3: Automation for security and living comfort

External roller shutters, façade blinds provide excellent acoustic and thermal insulation, take care of our safety and allow us to maintain our privacy. These solutions have, in fact, become standard when purchasing window joinery. Integrating them into a single system with garage doors, entrance gates, sliding patio doors, air conditioning or lighting for the entire house is becoming a trend that stems directly from our everyday life.

At the Fensterbau Frontale trade fair stands, we could see many systems operated by Somfy's TaHoma control unit, which makes managing our home extremely convenient. At a time when convenience and saving precious time are of paramount importance to us, this trend will surely soon become standard.
