Facade blinds as an alternative to aluminum roller shutters

In today’s construction, large glazing continuously dominates, providing access to natural light that influences our well-being, visually enlarges rooms, creates an unlimited sense of space, and offers a unique appearance that adds elegance and style. However, when designing such a house and selecting practical solutions, we must not forget about external shading systems that comfortably allow us to regulate the level of room darkening throughout the home. An excellent alternative to traditional aluminum roller shutters has become facade blinds.
 
Facade blinds are custom-made to size, and thanks to their solid and durable construction, they can reach very large dimensions. From an aesthetic perspective, these blinds fit perfectly into modern architecture, especially when combined with large glazed surfaces. The benefits of external blinds can be felt practically all year round: in summer – they reflect solar rays, preventing rooms from overheating and creating a suitable microclimate; while in winter, they form an additional air barrier, significantly reducing energy loss and lowering heating costs.

Two shapes of slats, "Z" and "C," provide stiffness and resistance to wind forces, and minimize noise that may occur during closing. Due to their characteristic design, they allow proper adjustment of the slat angle, thus enabling control over the intensity of light entering the rooms. An important advantage of facade blinds, in addition to their insulating properties, is their high resistance to strong winds, and in the case of very gusty winds – the possibility of automatic rolling up.

When choosing facade blinds, we should consider selecting the appropriate electric drive. We can choose between wired control and radio control. To avoid unnecessary problems related to wiring placement, etc., and to keep the option open to expand our system in the future, we should definitely opt for a radio control system. This solution is not only comfortable to use but also provides opportunities for further actions. By using Somfy automation, the blinds can be controlled via remote control, smartphone, or voice commands.

A blind equipped with appropriate sensors will automatically lower itself during intense sunlight, and will roll up in gusty winds. This is a very convenient solution, especially during extended absences from home. Moreover, the blinds can simulate our presence in the house – simply by setting appropriate opening and closing scenarios via the TaHoma control unit. The unit connects home devices from different areas of our domestic life – in this regard, we have many possibilities: division by floors, rooms, or grouping devices by functionality.
