Blood donation becomes a tradition!

As in previous years - a Mobile Blood Donation Point was parked in front of the headquarters of the windows, doors, roller shutters and garage doors factory, where the team of the PAGEN company could donate blood on a voluntary basis. The campaign was coordinated for the third time by the Regional Centre for Blood Donation and Haemotherapy in Cracow.

In response to appeals from the National Blood Centre and the Regional Blood Donation and Haemotherapy Centres, representatives of production, commercial departments, accounting, technology, service, marketing, logistics, as well as management and board members took part in the campaign.

Katarzyna PytelAs you can see, blood donation is in the blood - I am glad that our team is consistent and so willing to get involved in noble undertakings. I would like to thank all those who were involved in the preparation of the action, especially those who decided to nobly share the gift of life. I am convinced that the action on the premises of PAGEN will be continued in the future, becoming a permanent part of our autumn activities calendar,' said Katarzyna Chamioło, Proxy of PAGEN Sp. z o.o., coordinating projects of a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) nature.

Hospitals perform hundreds of elective procedures and complex surgeries every day, which require securing large amounts of blood. It is worth noting that, on average, 1 in 10 people treated in a hospital needs blood. About 6 units of blood are used in heart operations. During operations involving traffic accident victims, approx. 10 units of blood, while around 20 units are required for liver transplants. To realise how much blood is needed to save the life of one person, it is enough to consider that a single donation of whole blood by a donor is 450 ml, which is one unit.

It is particularly gratifying to see the activity of those who joined our team not so long ago. A common and noble goal integrates and is an opportunity to forge relationships that share the bond of blood. Responsibility, commitment and a sense of community are values that we particularly want to nurture, giving employees space for self-realisation," said Agnieszka Lalewicz, HR Specialist at PAGEN.

It is worth noting that in addition to blood donation campaigns, PAGEN supports the activities of UNICEF Poland, the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity (Wielka Orkiestra Świątecznej Pomocy), the Rak`n`Roll Foundation, and has also joined the ONKOODPIEDZIALNI campaign - "Caring for the health of employees" and the campaign to help fire victims from Nowa Biała.
